	MTC America and Mitsui Petrochemicals Merge

Purchase, NY – February 8, 1997- On October 1st. 1997 Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (MTC America) and Mitsui Petrochemicals, Inc. (MPC) announce the successful completion of their merger. The new company, Mitsui Chemicals America, Inc. (MCA-I), becomes the second largest chemical company in Japan, and the seventh largest in the world.
